There is something I want all families to know when planning their session; it might not (and probably will not) go as planned! You never know how your little ones may react to “sit still and smile” or how they will feel about a camera being in their face. And 9 times out of 10? They don’t want to sit still and smile and will be unsure about me at first (yes, even if I’ve been photographing them for years). They want to explore! And that’s okay! This family session at Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania is a perfect example of just that.
The kiddos were not interested in taking photos; they just wanted to move around and explore the area. My biggest advice in situations like this is: let your kids be who they are! If they are in the exploration stage and do not want to sit still, that is totally fine and precious moments can still be captured!!
I do my best to get one or two “look at me and smile” photos, but I truly want families to come to me because they want the images that show connection and movement. Images that capture their babies just how they are in that moment.
We definitely got a few “look at the camera” photos, but the true heart of this session was in the moments when the kids were allowed to just be themselves! Those kinds of photos will always be my favorite. Take a look and see for yourself in this blogpost featuring two adorable explorers!
