This early fall family session took place last year, and I truly can’t believe I never shared it! The leaves were just beginning to change, the air had that first crisp bite of the season, and I had the chance to photograph the sweetest family. They were new to Central Pennsylvania and already settling in with so much warmth and love. I’m so thankful our paths crossed!

Little M was turning one, and in her very first email, Mom said she loved images that felt natural and less posed. Say less! That’s music to my ears—especially when a toddler is involved!

Letting Toddlers Lead the Way

At this age, there’s so much wonder, movement, and personality in every moment. Trying to force stiff poses? That’s a quick way to lose the magic. Instead, we followed M’s lead. She explored, toddled, reached for leaves, and shared the sweetest snuggles with her parents! We let the session breathe, and the result was a collection of images that feel playful, cozy, and completely true to their season of life.

This is exactly what I love most about photographing families in Central PA, especially during fall. The backdrop is naturally beautiful, but it’s the connection between the people that makes an early fall family session really shine!
