This is the my definition of photographer heaven. I have always loved the newness, rawness, and realness of fresh 48 sessions but this was one for the books. Everything went like a dream. Iris couldn’t have been a more perfect subject and mom & dad couldn’t have been any more in love with their little girl.

The thing that makes these sessions so real is that nothing is ever planned. I am typically walking into these sessions either having met mom and dad from a quick maternity or never-ever before and yet they trust me to come in and document the first few hours of their new babies arrival (a task that is NEVER taken lightly!).

If I could give any advice to new parents or even parents who have had children before is…   DO AT LEAST ONE of these sessions. There is nothing like them. You’ll never get these first moments back. You don’t have to look your best, you don’t have be dolled up and in your perfect wardrobe, baby can be awake or sleeping, hungry and crying or totally calm and taking it all in. There is nothing to stress about, no expectations. Just to be in the moment and loving on the newness of your growing family and bask in the experience of it all.

This session is meant to capture all things real… They are quick sessions 30-40 minutes. I will come in say all of our hellos and greetings, lay eyes on and coo over your sweet baby and then we get right down to it. I promise to make this session as laid back as possible. I will only give small prompts such as where to stand or sit for lighting, the rest will just be capturing the love between you, your new little one, & the rest of your family. Don’t worry if siblings are there either, I welcome it! Sometimes getting those first moments with their newest brother or sister are some of my favorites. And don’t worry about the clutter in the room either… I will move anything too distracting but these session again aren’t meant to be perfect… they are just meant to capture the perfect love with your newly added and adored itty bitty one!
